HE SLIPPED AWAY

HE SLIPPED AWAY
(Private Collection)

This is a painting of my cousin Ronnie, when he was a little boy. I took the reference photo in the backyard of our farmhouse with my 126 camera. I was just a kid at the time, too (five years older than Ronnie and his twin brother Donnie).

On December 6 it will be 20 years since Ronnie slipped away at the age of 21. I've always loved this painting (maybe because it's of him) and decided to post it today.

You have such a gift - these paintings are beautfiul.

My father-in-law's name is Ron and he had a twin brother Don who died as a toddler.

That is a very poignant title, and the painting reads immediately as a memory rather that something current. It's a beautiful work of art, Karen.

Karen,
This is a lovely painting...very poignant even if it didn't have the story to go along with it.
2 thumbs up!

Karen, I've been following your blog for a couple of months. You really are a gifted painter and are quite adept at conveying emotion in your portraits. Not only do your subjects reflect a sweetness about them but the way you paint shows how much you care about your subjects as well. The relationship between the painter and "painted" is beautiful in your work.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful painting of Ronnie. As kids, we never imagined that one of us could pass into our eternal life.

He is waiting for us to join him, but not too soon!!!
